Fofky’s – An Online Book and Coffee/Tea Shop

Bismillah,

Fofky’s
An Online Book and Coffee/Tea Shop

The saying goes as this, “If the mountain won’t come to Muhammad then Muhammad must go to the mountain.” In other words, If one’s will does not prevail, one must submit to an alternative.

The writers of the ummah I’ve come across all agree that we need a Muslim space where Muslim works are shelved/stocked; especially Muslim fiction. So an idea struck me alhamdullilah. If I can’t do something about the brick-mortar way to help the ummah, I will bring it to the comfort of Muslim readers’ homes!

Thus Fofky’s (pronounced Fof-keys) was born. It will be an An Online Book and Coffee/Tea Shop insha’Allah and I’m happy to share this happy moment with you masha’Allah. God willing, you will be able to order a book you anticipate you read, order a drink (a pack of tea or coffee), order sweets (halal marshmallows, halal chocolate dates, halal macaroons, and/or other regular snacks and cookie flavors) you look forward to savor the book with.

After you place your order, you will receive a lovely box engraved with the logo Fofky’s  in the mail. All these goodies to the comfort of your home insha’Allah.

You might ask what Fofky means. It’s simply a nickname I earned growing up. Allah has 99 names and attributes. Even Rasullulah (sallallahu aleihi wassalam) has several names too masha’Allah. Some sources list 99 names for him while others list more than that.

I have several names I like to go by and I’m grateful for the different names I earned as He created us in His image. It’s a blessing from Him to have several qualities and to be versatile. Now, since this online bookstore/drink shop project is mine, it’s Fofky’s. Want to enjoy a nice book written by a Muslim author? Go to Fofky’s!

On a more serious note, everything I have done in my life has prepared me for this all praises to Him. I’ve always enjoyed hanging out at the library as a youngster. My first job was at a library. I discovered and learned a lot about people, American culture, and library materials.

In the next job, I was a Cashier at a grocery store. There, I interacted with a wide range of people alhamdullilah and that sharpened my manners and customer service skills.

After that, I became a Pharmacy Technician. I was already a storyteller because of my grandma and mandigua background but in this job people recounted unbelievable tales so they could abuse medications. It was a stressful job but an hilarious one. The made up stories people will come up with…smdh (shaking my damn hijab 😉 )…Utterly Baloney!

Anyways, then I became an Accountant. There I managed 100s of customers accounts and dealt with concession inventory spreadsheets over 60,000 lines  for the 400 plus movie theaters (the whole domestic company pretty much because international theaters weren’t my duty). It’s less scary than it sounds.

Now, I get to apply all this experience in my business Djarabi Kitabs Publishing alhamdullilah. It almost feels like a fiction book and a hero journey to me. But isn’t what this life is? An illusion of what’s to come in the akhiret? #Pondering.

As a writer, I still enjoy discovering new talents and works because writing is maroof (a good deed). You can’t go wrong if you surround yourself with good vibes. So if you didn’t know my reasons for supporting others, now you know. My goal is especially to take Muslim Fiction and Works to the next level insha’Allah. I dream BIG because our human capabilities are immense if we’re willing to tap into them with a lot of hard work. Don’t put limits on yourselves.

So, I’ll be delighted to share the bigger moment with you once Fofky’s officially launches inshallah. Get notified below by leaving us your email.

Jazakh’Allah for reading and please help me spread the word. And please keep DKP in your duas, ameen 🙂 . Ultimately Allah is my Creator and Protector.

Houb salam (Peace & Love)
