Earlier this week, I wrote “Of White Feminism, Hillary Clinton and Muslim Women” that met with interesting and eye-opening responses but the main debate persisted around the fact that Muslim women lag behind in their Islamic societies and in the west. Let me begin by recapping Islamic feminism and Muslim women activists and feminists powerful work that has been responsible for bringing the greatest change the lives of the millions of Muslimahs.

In the troubled central asian region many conflicts remain dangerously politicized with religious notions, in 1900s a young woman named Hamida Javanshir changed the face of Azerbaijan’s future through her work. Javanshir was an Azerbaijani philanthropist and women’s rights activist.
