Bidat is inherent in the ummah these days, whether you’re sunni or shia. We all rationalize our actions to do many things. Using our intentions and our unshaken faith in HIM as last resort to get away with it. Around the world many Muslim sunni and shia do questionable things on Ashura, the days leading to it and/or year round. While many keep it to simple fasting and prayer, many from both groups take it to another level. I know because I have seen many sunnis do it. And I have seen many shia do many bidat things as well.
Anyways, the differences between the creeds/doctrines/madhahib are very small. The bottom line is we all believe in Allah and his messenger Rasullulah sallallahu aleihi wasalam. If you don’t believe in these two facts then my brother or my sister, you’re not from our ummah lol. So calling each other takfir is pointless and a divide. Instead, we should be creating a united Islamic front. Look at the Jews, after the Holocaust, they swore to be ONE. Nobody is coming between them. I mean NODODY. And guess what? Today, they’re successful and ubiquitous.
To continue, if I never told you before, I love the name Ali amongst other male names. I love it because in history a great man carried the name for one. And two, I love the name Ali for very personal reasons ;).
Let me tell you a story on Hazrat Ali (Radi allahu anhu) from the source Manaqib and you’ll know what kind of level of iman he had in eyes of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
One day he was going to the mosque for Asr and there was an old man walking slow in front of him. Out of respect, he didn’t rush the old man. He just walked behind him. At the same time, Hazrat Ali was worried he would miss the prayer but he didn’t cut off the man like we do here when we drive down the highway and become impatient at slow drivers. He just kept a steady pace behind the man and hoped to make it to salat on time.
During this time the prayer had started at the Mosque and Rasullulah led it. After the prayer, the men approached the Prophet and wondered why during the first ruku (prostration) he took a while before standing back up. Our Prophet said he didn’t know but one thing was sure, Djibril was at the source. Then, he told the men that angel Djibril came really fast from his abode and with one of his wings kept him bowed for longer than usual and that he didn’t know the meaning.
Later Allah sent Djibril back to Rasullulah to explain the meaning behind the angel’s actions. So Djibril came back and told our Prophet(saw) that because Ali was running late to the prayer due to an elderly man, and Him Allah wanted Ali (Radi allahu anhu) to get the sabab (reward) of the first rakat. So He sent Djibril to hold the Prophet in Ruku longer than usual and at the same time hold the sun in place so that it didn’t move to Magrib time quick.
Subhanallah, how amazing is this? Veryyyyy amazing. Allah has a special place for all the sahabas and the first women of Islam but He also has great respect and love for Hazrat Ali (ra).
I’m going to copy my friend and big sister in Islam Asiila here and say, “So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?”
I hope this was new data for you my loves, masalam!
