Our Weekend Brunches: A Muslimah Way :)

Assalamu Aleikum bloggers! ^_^

It is almost the weekend! Well, in two days. It is the best part of the week in our household. I am already salivating at the upcoming brunches. Our weekends are very festive. I am always on the go, my Duracell battery is the best hehe. When I was undergrad working at the Library, my supervisor gave me a Duracell Bunny award, haha! I do crash though, but it happens sporadically  when I am bored like what I have on my plate is not enough B-) ….

Anyhow, I always think that I sleep in on weekends, and when I check the clock it is only 8:30am….Boooo. Hubby sleeps until 11:30 am (After the Fadjr prayer of course). So, I have time to study a little bit. Then, when he is awake I go in the kitchen to start mixing pots and pans and voilà! I wait for him to wake up because I am very clumsy person, :P. I will make too much noise and wake him up while he is asleep… But I do prep the food the day before or after the morning prayer so that I can set up the food and table in 30 to 45 minutes after he is awake.

So, while he is showering, I concoct dishes for ten persons that only two persons are present to eat :D! We love to indulge on weekends. Don’t just work hard, please yourself, too ;). I know when it comes to food, we don’t think twice. We are blessed to have the means to feed ourselves. In addition, cooking a lot is a Muslim way and a cultural thing. You never know when a Musafir (visitor) will come knock at your door. A Muslimah needs to be ready at all times. Having said that we are only two in the house, we frown on Ishraf (waste). I store leftovers for the next day brunch and for during the week breakfast or lunch to-go. Cooking big brunches helps me save time indirectly during the week.

We eat at home or by the lake (picnic style) :D!
In anticipation of this weekend, what are your plans dear Muslimahs? Jumu’ah Mubarak (Have a great Friday)! Have fun 🙂

Shukran for reading! Jazakh’Allah Khair!
